Overview
Gynaecomastia surgery treats enlarged male breast tissue using a combination of liposuction and glandular excision. This condition affects up to 60% of men at some point and can cause significant self-consciousness. The procedure removes excess fat and breast tissue to create a flatter, more masculine chest contour.
Our surgeons utilise both liposuction and direct glandular removal, allowing us to address both the fatty and glandular components of enlarged breast tissue. The result is a more comprehensive and satisfying outcome for patients seeking to restore chest confidence.
Note: The underlying cause (hormonal, idiopathic, medication-related) will be discussed during your consultation to ensure the best surgical approach for your individual anatomy.
Who Is This Procedure For?
- •Men with enlarged breast tissue causing emotional distress
- •Those who have tried diet and exercise without improvement
- •Hormonal gynaecomastia that has not resolved
- •Men avoiding activities due to chest appearance
- •Those seeking a more masculine chest contour
What Does the Procedure Involve?
Liposuction Component
Liposuction removes excess fat through small incisions using advanced techniques. This addresses the fatty component of gynaecomastia and helps refine the chest contour.
Glandular Excision
Excess glandular breast tissue is excised through a small incision at the areola edge, reducing risk of contour abnormality. This addresses the firm breast tissue component that liposuction alone cannot resolve.
Skin Excision (If Needed)
In severe cases with significant skin excess, a small crescent of skin may be removed around the areola to optimise final contour.
Post-Operative Care
A compression garment is worn for 6 weeks to reduce swelling and optimise final chest contour.

- ⚠Scarring: Small scars at incision sites, typically faint
- ⚠Seroma: Fluid collection may require aspiration
- ⚠Under or Over-Correction: May require revision surgery
- ⚠Recurrence: Breast tissue may recur if hormonal cause persists
