Overview
Liposuction is a body contouring procedure that removes stubborn pockets of fat resistant to diet and exercise. Using thin cannulas through tiny incisions, we precisely shape and sculpt your body to enhance natural contours. Over 25 years of experience ensures excellent results.
It's important to understand that liposuction is a shaping procedure, not a weight-loss treatment. The quality of results depends on surgical technique, your skin elasticity, and the body area being treated.
Common treatment areas: Abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks, back, neck, and flanks
Who Is This Procedure For?
- •Stubborn fat deposits resistant to diet and exercise
- •Patients at or near ideal weight seeking body contouring
- •Those with good skin elasticity for optimal results
- •Patients combining liposuction with other procedures (abdominoplasty, breast surgery)
- •Those seeking to reduce fat in specific areas of the body
What Does the Procedure Involve?
Small incisions (approximately 5mm) are made in discreet locations near the areas being treated. A thin cannula (tube) is gently inserted through the incisions to break up and remove excess fat.
The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia for smaller areas or general anesthesia for larger or multiple areas. Liposuction is frequently combined with other cosmetic procedures to achieve comprehensive body contouring.
Note: Your surgeon may slightly overfill the treated area initially, as some fat reabsorption occurs during healing.
Risks & Considerations
- ⚠Bruising: Expected and normal, typically resolves within 2-3 weeks
- ⚠Swelling: Variable and may persist for several weeks
- ⚠Bleeding: Very uncommon with modern techniques
- ⚠Infection: Uncommon, managed with antibiotics if it occurs
- ⚠Small Scars: Approximately 5mm in discreet locations, fade over time
- ⚠Contour Irregularities: Minor surface irregularities usually settle as swelling decreases
- ⚠Numbness: Common in treated areas, usually recovers over time
- ⚠Seroma: Fluid collection, occurs in approximately 1 in 30 cases
- ⚠Undercorrection: May require touch-up procedures to achieve desired results
